Bags

Just been in touch with my inner seamstress to create these bags created from my designs! Complete with Chloe Wray tags and care instructions... of course!

Thistle and Daisy Length

This week and the last three I've been working on this....
This is the third length I've printed, but we won't talk about the other two (oops). It's the first in my collection for my final major project. It took me and my lovely assistant Jenny Cooper about three hours to print with all the fiddly jobs included :). It's three and a half metres of cotton sateen printed with procion pastes.

My first post of 2013 and unfortunately it's nearing the end of the year. What to say? Third and final year of uni is slowly slipping away, with only a final major project between now and graduating. I've just completed and handed in two bodies of work, first my dissertation and i'm so glad that it's done, second was my minor project. My minor project was; The Expanse of Air as Observed, focusing on the sky.

Using these drawing and a selection more I used them to inform my final designs, as follows:

All follow a furnishing fabric repeat, however were hand painted and all have a unique quality, that is of the same consistency as my drawing with a obvious use of brush strokes. Hope you like them and the next post won't take so long next time.

At good old CCAD, for our last, first year module, we've been set two tasks the first is a fashion element, to design three garment shapes!! I've chosen dresses, I felt that dresses were the right choice as there was more room to create a design and there more girly!! All of the garment shapes have to be based around embellished and embroidered surfaces so no printing this time. I like the embroidery part it just takes an age sometimes! I'm sure it'll all be worth it in the end though it usually is!

There all a floral theme, as this was part of the task, so I'll just have to get my machine out and crack on!!

Saturday 7 April 2012

The last few months have been very exciting and very busy. February -- March
February, I went to Paris the main event of the trip was to visit the Premier Vision fashion trade show and in particularly the Indigo section where CCAD (my uni) had a stand. Although the show was very interesting I think I'm more of an interiors person than fashion but it was a worthwhile experience and I spent the rest of the trip soaking up the scenery of Paris and trying to keep warm as it was literally freezing!!

March, I went to London it was lovely and the weather was gorgeous!! This was to tie in with Chelsea Harbour an interior design show, which was lovely and confirmed my believe that I'm more an an interiors person. Whilst in London we also visited the studio of Zandra Rhodes this was an experience, it was cluttered but amazing!! Again all the touristy stuff was observed like a trip to Harrods, Liberty's and the V&A.

A Little About Me

Okay, so this is my first blog and I'm not really too sure what to write about. I'm a proper country girl from good old Yorkshire, currently studying for a BA in textiles and surface design at CCAD in Hartlepool.

Just finished our first module and I can't say it was my best 7 weeks of just drawing, but this week we move on to embellished surfaces and I have to say I'm quite excited to get my embroidery threads out and a few sequins.

I was hoping to put up something exciting that I'd been working on recently however I can't find anything I'm that keen on so I thought I'd share my favourite pics, although I took them about three years ago so not that recent. Well I was going to but it's just not happening for me I'll put them on tomorrow I hope x
